.: Sound Team Tryouts :.

You all knew it was coming, so here it is! It is now time to hold the sound team auditions. The audition for the sound team is in three parts. You will find a clip from the show, linked at the bottom of this entry, as well as two voice overs from fans.

The scene is from "Crossroads of Destiny", so it should be a scene most Zutarians are very familiar with. The clip is edited down, and mixed to combine two scenes into one, without all the middle scenes that played during the show. Just follow the lip flaps, and place the voices where they belong accordingly.

Please keep in mind that this journal entry will be updated with a deadline once bluetarako and I have decided on one. That being said, submitting the auditions will be updated as well once we figure out an easy way for you all to send in your pieces without too much hassle.

Special thanks to the wonderfully amazing :iconbluetarako: and :iconplaguedsoul: for providing the great fan dubs provided to you all for your auditioning needs.
:w00t:

.: Sound Files :.

Here are the files you guys must download to audition for the sound team. Best of luck to you all, and if you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

.: Calling All AMV Makers :.

Now is the moment you all have been waiting for. I was talking with :iconbluetarako: , and we both agreed on this musical piece for you all to try out with. All you guys have to do now, is download this MP3, and begin working on your AMV pieces. If you would like to audition, please leave a comment in this journal STATING that you are entering. This is just so we can keep track of who is working on a piece, and help us keep things nice and tidy. Please do NOT alter this song in any way, as the point of picking a song for you all was to keep judging fair.

Speaking of judging, we came up with a way to judge each entry as fairly as possible. At some point in time, we will be making a channel on youtube to upload each of your entry pieces. Your auditioning pieces will be uploaded to this new channel as "entry one", "entry two", etc, so that no one will be judged on WHO they are, but rather the skill and effort portrayed by their work. I'd like to ask that those who are entering do NOT upload their audition pieces to their own youtube channels, or tell voters which entry is their own. Let's try and keep this as fair as we possibly can guys, okay?

Each video, as I stated in my previous journal entry, will be judged in three categories. Once again, these categories are:

o1. Vision:

-The first category is the vision aspect of your video. We will judge the AMV's on how well you interpreted the song choice you had been given, and how clearly your idea for the AMV is presented.

o2. Pieces:

-This ties directly into the "vision" aspect of judging, but is it's own category in it's own right. You will be judged on how well you chose scenes to convey your concept of the song, and how well the clips flowed with one another. Obviously, the smoother the AMV, the more pleasing it is to view.

o3. Effects:

-You will be judged last, but not least, on the effects you used in your AMV. This is NOT to say that the more effects you use, the better you score. It's more a judgement of how well you used the effects, and if they portrayed the right "emotion" with your use of them.

There will be TWO rounds of judging, so let me break down how the judging process will begin. Again, please note that if this changes, or if a correction has to be made, you will be updated via this journal entry, so PLEASE keep an eye out so you all know what's going on. Also, please note that entries will not be uploaded to this channel until everyone has submitted an entry, or the deadline has been reached. This insures that everyone has a fair, and equal chance when it comes to voting.

Step One:

The first round of judging will be done by the Zutarian Community as a whole. Each audition piece will be uploaded as it's own entry, and it is up to you, the viewers to watch these entries, and rate them on a scale of 1-5 on each of the 3 categories. We will have the voting process for step one continue for a certain amount of time (deadline for this will be set at a later date), and at the end of this stage, we will tally up the ratings you each gave the entries.

For example, someone's comment/vote for a video might look something like this.

Vision: 3/5 It looked really nice, but I wasn't really sure what was going on during the middle scene they chose.
Pieces: 3/5 They chose really good scenes for this, and it looked like it summed up the show really well.
Effects: 4/5 The effects were really great for this video. I really liked the effect they used at the beginning of the video.

That was just a random comment I made up to give you guys an idea on how we need you to vote for these pieces. It doesn't have to be that descriptive, but we do need a number vote for each category. We will find the average for each category of these videos, and the top five video's will be our final selection for picking team members.

Step Two:

After we have our top five, we will select the 3 people who's video's best established the skills and experience we need to make this project a success. In particular, video's that show new effects that we might need to use for the project, or a basic understanding of how a video should flow. The new team members will be identified once the team has been chosen.

In short guys, just try your best when you audition. As of right now, there is no real deadline for when these AMV's need to be done. This is ONLY because our fan-dub is not finished at this point in time. The moment we have the fan-dub available for the sound team auditions, the Video Team will receive their deadline for their entries, so be sure you work on it as much as time will allow, and do the best you possibly can. It's a fairly short song, so it shouldn't be too much hassle to finish. =D

So here is the song guys. Remember!

o1. Leave a comment saying you're going to try out.
o2. Download the MP3
o3. Get those creative juices flowing!
:w00t:

Can't wait to see what all you guys come up with. Best of luck to you all!

.: V i s u a l - S o u n d s :.

As some of you might have heard by now, I have been charged with leading the new sound/video team for the Zutara re-finale project. Of course, I am unable to head a team without members, so we are going to have a few auditions to join this team.

I was speaking with :iconbluetarako: on AIM a while ago, and we were discussing how to possibly go about setting up auditions for you all. We thought it might be best to split this team into two smaller teams to get the job done. This way, if you can work with sound effects, but aren't particularly familiar with video editing, you can still be a part of this team. On the other hand, if you can edit videos, but aren't familiar with sound work, you can audition for the visual aspect of the team. One team, two smaller sides! After a while, we came to an idea on how to pick our new team members. Here's how the auditions are going to be broken down.

.: S o u n d - T e a m :.

- After thinking about it for a while, we came up with an idea on how to audition for the sound team. We will have a line read by someone from a certain scene in the show, and provide you with the mp3 of this fan dub. You will then be provided with a scene clip that matches the mp3, but is about half the length of the voice audio you have been given. Your job would be to match the fan dub with the character's lips, and send the clip in for judging. If you matched everything correctly, you will be welcomed into the team. It's that simple.

.: V i s u a l - T e a m :.

- This audition took a while for us to think of a way to hold it fairly, and we finally came up with an idea. Firstly, we will select a musical piece, instrumental of course, for you all to work with. Your job would be to take the song we have pre-selected for you, and make an AMV with it. You will be judged on three different categories.

Obviously, the smoother the AMV, the more pleasing it is to view.

o3. Effects:

-Yes, you knew this part was coming. You will be judged last, but not least, on the effects you used in your AMV. This is NOT to say that the more effects you use, the better you score. It's more a judgement of how well you used the effects, and if they portrayed the right "emotion" with your use of them.

This is all the information I can provide you guys with at this moment. If I made a mistake in anything I said, I'll be sure to correct it and let you guys know of any changes that have been made. The song for the AMV has not been chosen yet, but I'll be presenting bluetarako with some choices soon. Given her final say on the selection, we will provide you with the mp3 to begin working on the AMV.

As for the fan dub for the sound portion, we will work on getting that piece for you all very soon so we can start holding auditions for the sound team. If you guys have any questions, please leave a comment so we can best answer them for you. That's all for now guys.

Thank-You U n i v e r s e

This morning I was working on a really short project idea I had a while ago, and things were going great. The editing was going along amazingly, and I was just about 75% done with one particular aspect of the project. I had the bright idea to try and save so I wouldn't loose all my work when, of course, darn Vegas closes on it's own, and completely erased all the progress I had made. There it was, 5 hours of hard work editing, gone. :omg:

Needless to say I'm more than a little annoyed at Vegas right now. I guess I'll just have to keep saving every few minutes in case the universe decides to play another pratical joke on me. :| Thank you universe!

If you guys are wondering what the project is, it's just a really short AMV I'm making for the fun of it. Sort of an "I'm not dead" AMV showing all the new skills I've learned. Trust me when I say that this video will be much more entertaining and graphically pleasing than all my previous video's combined. I'm being completely serious here when I say I've never made a video to this level before. What's more, it's to another Red song! :omg: Kind of a happy medium of fast and slow paced, and I'm really excited about it. I have another idea in the works, but it's kind of pending at the moment.

Anyhow, that's all for now guys. I hope to have this new AMV done in a few days, though knowing my luck, it'll probably be out in about two or three weeks, given the time I have to complete it. ^^; I'll keep you all updated on what's going on, so just check back when you want to hear what I'm up to.

UPDATE:: Yeah, I got really frustrated with Vegas, so to cheer me up my Fiancee got me a 3 month subscription for me to see if I like it. Yay!

I'll try to give me frequent updates about what's going on in the future so I don't disappear on you all anymore.

I hope all is well for everyone, and if you need me for anything, just drop me a note here, youtube, e-mail, text, etc. I check messages and check in every day, even if I don't put a post up somewhere. Take care you guys!
